“I Can See Clearly Now…”

Not even singer and songwriter Johnny Nash foresaw how recording a song fifty-two years ago (1971) would be such a Big Hit on My Blog.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

On Tuesday, I had laser surgery on both my eyes because Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is common in babies born too early and given high doses of oxygen. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a blinding disorder that affects premature infants  is characterized by abnormal blood vessel growth in the eye. So yes, the day after I enjoyed my first “real time” bath with mama and giggles, I thought surely “this is heaven.” Nope, within 12 hours, I was in surgery, AGAIN, and heaven was short lived. It was sure sweet while it lasted though.

I woke up with puffy red eyes and and a great deal of discomfort, but I can see my world clearer and “focus” on what is really important…witnessing another miracle. For several days, all personal photoshoots were canceled. Sorry for the inconvenience but no girl wants to be photographed at her worst.

A hearty Thank-You to my new pediatric ophthalmology team who performed this incredible procedure–giving me a much better chance to really get a good look at myself. Who wouldn’t want to look at this?

Furthermore, “Here’s looking at you, Kid.”

I invite you to my newest Page titles, “Here She Is, Miss America.”
